Hierarchical relationships, also called parent–child relationships, exist between the entities in a view. They describe that an element is partly composed of another. A process can consist of subprocesses, data categories can contain other data categories, and organizational units together form larger organizations. Therefore these hierarchical parent–child relationships exist only within the organizational view, the data category view, and the process view. Hierarchical relationships are represented by a single line.
