The import is suitable not only for creating new elements, but also for updating elements. If you change something in your Excel and then do the import again, all changes are updated in HITGuard. In this, the ID in the third-party system is very important.
ID in the third-party system Unique identifier during import - The ID in the third-party system is called "Record ID" in the Excel templates. HITGuard uses it as a unique identifier of an element.
- For HITGuard it is the actual "name" of the element, at least during import. This ID can only be used once for one type of element. Only a single resource can, for example, have "R_012" as its ID.
- This allows you to update this resource later. If you change, for example, the description of the resource in the Excel, you can repeat the import. Then HITGuard recognizes the same ID and will insert the new description into the existing resource.
- If you try to import a second "R_012", HITGuard will interpret this as an update of the first and overwrite the data. You therefore have to be careful not to overwrite imported data unintentionally.
